Málaga lose to Villarreal and stay in relegation zone

Málaga CF closed matchday 6 this Thursday hosting Villarreal at La Rosaleda, with both sides starting the game down in the bottom places. As Sport reports, Villarreal’s first win of the season sends them away from danger, while Málaga will remain in the relegation zone after a 1-3 defeat.

Five minutes decide it

Sport notes that Dotor’s opener didn’t last. Moleiro and Gueye turned the game around within five minutes, and it was Gueye who finished the contest from the penalty spot to seal the win.

Three draws, three losses

According to Sport, Málaga now have three draws and three defeats in six rounds and sit in 19th place, only ahead of Elche, who is on two points. Villarreal, meanwhile, climbs out of the drop zone and pushes Valencia back into it with four points, despite the article also mentioning their win over Alavés.

Málaga get another chance this Sunday, when they travel to play Getafe at the Coliseum, with Sport listing the rest of the fixtures for the round.
