Man City negotiated secretly with the Premier to reduce its sanction, claims Bloomberg
Bloomberg reports the club offered a hefty fine to avoid losing titles or being relegated; the Premier refused the proposal.
Manchester City, according to Bloomberg, tried to negotiate in secret with the Premier League to reduce its sanction after facing charges over financial rules breaches. The club’s plan, the report adds, was to pay a large fine in exchange for avoiding two possible outcomes: the loss of titles and a relegation.
The conversations, the outlet says, took place before the adverse ruling was made public, but the Premier League rejected the offer. Instead, it plans to enforce the full punishment once the club’s appeal is decided.
The Premier expects the appeal process to conclude next February.
