Manchester City’s Maresca beats Liverpool 0-3 at Anfield
City won 0-3 in the Premier League: Doku turned the match, and Liverpool were down to 10 from the 58th.
The Manchester City, led by Enzo Maresca, thrashed Liverpool at Anfield by 0-3. The match swung when the Reds had to play with ten from the 58th minute, after Ryan Gravenberch was sent off.
Post-verdict context
The backdrop was the decision taken by the Premier earlier: on September 29, Manchester City was found guilty of 115 charges over breaches of financial rules covering 2009-2018. On top of that, Andoni Iraola was without Dominik Szoboszlai due to hamstring problems after his latest issue was confirmed on Friday—along with the earlier absences of Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo.
Doku breaks the game open
Despite a tense first half with few clear chances, Víctor Muñoz went closest, but his effort struck the outside of the post. After the break, Liverpool started strongly and hit Donnarumma twice, while Alexis Mac Allister also tested the keeper without reward. The turning point came with Jérémy Doku’s introduction at the 56th: he destabilized the home side and helped set up Haaland’s opener at the 64th. Doku then doubled the lead at the 68th, and Rayan Cherki made it 0-3 in the 78th with a move finished via a wall with Gvardiol.
With the loss, Liverpool drop to ninth, nine points behind the leader, Manchester City.
