Marcao (Sevilla) suffers injury in right quad rectus femoris
He went off injured at 25 minutes vs Aston Villa. Sevilla say it’s a muscle injury and he’s pending an update.
Marcao (Sevilla) injured his right quad rectus femoris and had to leave the pitch at the 25-minute mark during the Trofeo Antonio Puerta match against Aston Villa. Sevilla reported a myofascial injury in that area and said his recovery status is pending evolution.
The Brazilian started and couldn’t reach half an hour. He was replaced by Juan Iglesias, who took his spot in central defence.
Marcao had not played for Sevilla for 286 days before this outing. His previous appearance dated back to December 20, 2025, when he was also sent off after incidents involving Muñiz Ruiz. MARCA adds that his return had been preceded by setbacks, including a broken toe.
