Marco Asensio, of Fenerbahçe, will miss three months after undergoing arthroscopic surgery in Madrid for cartilage damage in his left knee. The winger had been dealing with discomfort over recent weeks and ultimately required the operation, as the club confirmed.

This season, Asensio has been limited to just five matches. He joined Fenerbahçe in September 2025 from PSG for €7.5 million, and has since played 46 games across all competitions, scoring 15 goals and providing 15 assists.

In the Champions League summer qualifiers he featured in five matches, while in January 2026 he helped the team win the Turkish Cup. He has also been sidelined for the last three games, including the 6-0 loss to Aston Villa and the 2-2 draw with Slavia Prague.

Ahead of the reports circulating in Turkey, Asensio denied he was facing surgery: “I’m here to deny that I’m going to get operated… I don’t usually get involved in this kind of fake news, but when they play with my health and the fans’ hopes, I have to step in. I totally deny what they’ve been saying… Little by little I’ll be back on the pitch and soon I’ll be with the team,” he said in a video shared by the club.

The injury news doesn’t stop there: Fenerbahçe also said central defender Nathan Aké has a mid-grade strain and swelling in the back of his right thigh and will be out for three weeks.
