Marco Guida will referee Barça vs Galatasaray in Istanbul

Marco Guida, the 45-year-old Italian referee, will oversee Barça–Galatasaray this Tuesday at 21:00 at Ali Sami Yen in Istanbul, with Marco di Bello in the VAR room.

Guida is an international official since 2014 and this season has already refereed three matches in European competitions, including one in the Champions League qualifying stage. For Barça, it’s his third European game as their referee: the previous one came last season, when the Blaugrana drew 1-1 with Newcastle United in the first leg of the round of 16 in England.

His earlier Barça precedents also include the group phase at Antwerp in the 2022-23 Champions League, where they lost 3-2 on 13 December 2022. There are also two previous meetings with Galatasaray, with one win and one defeat; the last time Barça were involved in that sequence ended with a 5-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt in last season’s group stage, according to Mundo Deportivo.
