Mariano de Paco urges calm ahead of Rayo-Athletic at Vallecas
The councillor posts on X before Saturday’s match and points back to a 7 October demand over stadium security and damage.
Before Saturday’s Rayo Vallecano vs Athletic Club game at Vallecas, councillor Mariano de Paco called for calm as LaLiga returns to the stadium after a break of under 24 hours. On X, he asked for “responsibility and concord” and stressed that “no form of violence has a place in sport,” with sport belonging to society as a whole.
De Paco added: “Rayo will have the stadium it deserves. Trust.” His message also arrives hours before an open assembly requested by the Rayo Vallecano supporters’ group to discuss the club’s situation.
The background includes a 7 October notice from the Community of Madrid: it said stadium security is the club’s responsibility and required, within five days of receiving the document, information about events from the week of 28 September, including graffiti and damage—also in the box area. The notice warns that failing to comply could end the concession title, as stated in the rules governing public land use (source: MARCA).
