Maroan targets a starting spot for Athletic vs Levante
The striker, who was set to start at a suspended Valencia game last September, is in line to play as a 9 this Wednesday.
Athletic will give Maroan a chance to start as a forward for their match against Levante this Wednesday, after a storm caused the Ciutat de Valencia game—scheduled for him to be in the XI in September—to be postponed.
The plan was already defended by Athletic coach Nihad Terzic after that suspension. He said: “I trust Maroan completely as a 9” and added that “it annoyed me that he didn’t get that opportunity.”
Attack reshuffle
Athletic arrive at Levante without wins in their last three league games (Elche, Alavés and Valencia): three draws and one goal in 270 minutes. Terzic made defensive tweaks in the Valencia match, and now the attack is set to change due to Guruzeta’s injury and the workload on Iñaki Williams.
Nico Williams won’t be ready either, as he still hasn’t trained with the group, while Sancet is expected to be questionable.
