Marseille host Olympiacos aiming to kick-start Europe after Troyes win
Bruno Genesio’s side sit on zero points after losing in Turkey and face Olympiacos after their 2-1 win over Jagiellonia.
The Olympique de Marseille host Olympiakos Piraeus this Thursday for the Europa League matchday 2, with the home side needing a quick turnaround after a tough start. Bruno Genesio’s team bounced back in the league with a 2-0 win over Troyes, but in the continental table they’re bottom with zero points and a -3 goal difference.
Olympiakos, meanwhile, are 13th provisionally after beating Jagiellonia 2-1 in their previous game. The spotlight also extends beyond the stadium: RMC Sport reports tensions around how visiting supporters were handled in France, including a late change that allowed Olympiakos fans to travel to Marseille.
The build-up follows strange scenes around the city on Wednesday, with accounts of supporters from AEK Athens and OM linking up and checking nearby hotels for Olympiakos supporters.
