Mateu Alemany ‘puts on ice’ the Jonathan David purchase and blocks Marc Pubill exit
The Atlético de Madrid chief says the Juventus-linked option for Jonathan David is due to be exercised in June.
Mateu Alemany, Atlético de Madrid’s Director of Football, made it clear in DAZN that the club does not want to sell off players. Ahead of the match against RCD Espanyol, he also shut the door on any exit for Marc Pubill. On the Catalan, Alemany praised his growth and output, saying the club wants him to stay “for many years” and describing his progress as “spectacular”.
Pubill stays put
He added that football decisions are made continuously based on “performance”, and he left no doubt that Pubill is part of the club’s plans.
David: option for June
Regarding Jonathan David, Alemany explained that the purchase option agreed with Juventus is scheduled to be exercised “in June”, stressing there is still “enough time”. With the team facing heavy competition and a game every three days, he said attention is on the next fixture against Espanyol.
