Mbappé vs Real Madrid: COPE flags four friction points
COPE and Dani Senabre list four sources of tension, including a departing physio, the Ceuta shirt issue and the 2026 Ballon d’Or.
Kylian Mbappé, of Real Madrid, is under heavy scrutiny in Spain, and COPE suggests the club may be starting to “let him go”. In El Partidazo de COPE, Dani Senabre said recent incidents don’t look like pure clumsiness, arguing Mbappé is smart and posts or confrontations appear intentional.
After getting injured with France in their opening international match against Turkey, Mbappé returned to Madrid for “reassuring” exams. He was then spotted in a Paris nightclub with his partner Ester Exposito, before sharing a video cycling in the Swiss Alps—sparking a new wave of debate.
Four friction points
COPE highlights four recent trouble areas:
- the departure of a club physiotherapist
- disagreement over the club’s messaging regarding referees
- the 2026 Ballon d’Or race, where Madrid is not backing him actively
- the Ceuta shirt incident
Radio Marca also claimed Mbappé asked his leaders to support his 2026 Ballon d’Or bid, only for it not to happen. Finally, Mourinho is reported to have spoken with Mbappé at Valdebebas on Tuesday morning, telling him that outside he’ll defend him when questioned, but “here, no”.
