Michael Carrick under pressure as Man United draw 1-1 with Tottenham
Man United have six points from their opening six league games and are winless in four after a 1-1 at Old Trafford.
Michael Carrick’s situation at Manchester United is getting more fragile after a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford. For the second time in a row at home, United failed to beat opponents reduced to 10 men, and they also find themselves under heavy pressure even before the clocks roll back.
Rodrigo Bentancur levelled for Spurs just five minutes after Bryan Mbeumo put United ahead, but Dominic Solanke struck in stoppage time. Gary Neville summed it up on Sky Sports as “a worrying day for Michael Carrick”. Carrick admitted the points haul is not good enough, saying: “I’m not happy with the amount of points we’ve got so far… We need to put things in a direction… quite quickly.”
League form spirals
United have just six points from their opening six Premier League games, their lowest tally at this stage since 1986-87 under Sir Alex Ferguson. They’ve failed to win five of their six league matches this season and are winless in four. The next test is a trip to Leeds at Elland Road on Sunday 18 October, before Champions League matches against Atlético Madrid and Como.
