Miguel Ángel Ramírez (Las Palmas) wants Juan Manuel to stay
Las Palmas’ president backs the temporary switch and says the target is to reach 50 points
Miguel Ángel Ramírez, president of UD Las Palmas, denied reports of a “mutiny” in the dressing room and explained the decision: Juan Manuel Rodríguez has been placed in the first team on a temporary basis, but his wish is that “he continues definitively”. He said this after attending the club’s inauguration of a new medical center in Telde, following the sacking of Rubén de la Barrera.
Ramírez set the goal of reaching 50 points and called for unity within the squad. He also asked experienced players to raise their level: “We don’t have the best version of the veterans and we need them because the young players have been setting the standard.”
He also backed sporting director Luis Helguera, stressing that he renewed for five years: “As long as I’m president, he can keep being with me because I still have full confidence in him.”
