Mika Baza debuts for Barcelona in his first official game
The German 16-year-old central played his first minutes vs Olot after his move was sealed in the final hours of the summer window.
Barcelona gave Mika Baza his first taste of action in the match against Olot, where the German centre-back (16) played his opening minutes with the Juvenil B. The signing was completed in the last hours of the summer transfer window after he arrived from Hamburg.
Before making his appearance, Baza was named in the squad for the first two league games. From the bench he watched the 0-1 win vs Europa and the 4-4 draw against Reus. Wearing the ’4’ shirt, he stood out immediately for his physical presence: he is 1.93 metres tall, looked comfortable on the ball and quick in transitions.
The move happened after Barcelona managed to lower Hamburg’s demands, which initially sat around €250,000. As Mundo Deportivo reports, Hansi Flick played a key role in pushing the deal forward through contacts with youth coaches in Germany.
