Mikel Arteta renews with Arsenal until 2030 after title win
Arteta extends his deal to 2030: from £10m a year plus bonuses, with £5m more tied to targets, per BBC Sport.
Arsenal have secured a new contract for Mikel Arteta, keeping him at the club until 2030 after his previous deal was set to end this season. The agreement was reached earlier this month, as reported by BBC Sport, following the Gunners’ Premier League title.
The manager, in charge since December 2019, framed the renewal as “only the beginning”. He said Arsenal’s bond with him is already special and that the next step is what matters most.
Financially, the new contract raises his package from a current £10m annual base to include an extra £5m in bonuses. BBC Sport adds that Arteta benchmarked his worth against figures earned by Diego Simeone and Pep Guardiola, both reportedly over £20m per year.
Arteta has won the Premier League and the FA Cup with Arsenal, and they lost the Champions League final to Paris Saint-Germain in May. Stan and Josh Kroenke underlined their pride in what’s been achieved since Arteta returned in 2019, saying he remains committed to building on it.
