Mikel Oyarzabal ends his drought: double helps Real Sociedad beat Málaga
After 10 matches without scoring, the captain fired twice at home as the txuriurdin sealed a 5-3 win, with Guedes adding the fifth.
Mikel Oyarzabal, captain of Real Sociedad, found his way back to the net with a double vs Málaga after a run of 10 games “battling” to score. Despite Pellegrino Matarazzo rotating heavily following a busy schedule, the World Champion started at La Rosaleda.
Oyarzabal’s key moments came in the second half: after Málaga made it 1-2, he restored control with the 1-3, and then completed his comeback with the 2-3 that steadied the txuriurdin. The game didn’t stop there, as Guedes scored the fifth to put the final at 5-3.
Earlier, Take Kubo gave Real Sociedad the lead in the third minute and Óskarsson made it two before halftime. With his goals, Oyarzabal reached career strikes 134 and 135 for the club, putting him on course to challenge Jesús Satrustegui’s Real Sociedad record of 162.
