Mikel Rego and David Vivian return for Real Sociedad at Anoeta
Terzic praised Vivian’s comeback after two and a half months out and Rego’s full 90 minutes in the Euskal Herria Txapela final.
Real Sociedad’s Anoeta saw Athletic Club get back David Vivian and Mikel Rego in the Euskal Herria Txapela final. Rego played the full 90 minutes, while Vivian returned after two and a half months on the sidelines with a problem he’d carried over from last season.
Vivian’s comeback, step by step
As MARCA reported, Terzic said the medical team initially allowed Vivian to play 15 to 20 minutes. The German coach added that, for “the past couple of weeks,” Vivian has been training on the pitch without pain, calling it “the first step.” During his time on the pitch, he didn’t lose any duels.
Rego’s role and minutes
Terzic was equally pleased with Rego’s impact. He described him as a hybrid between a holding midfielder and a centre-back, and noted that Rego hadn’t had a minute this season so far. The plan was for him to reach the full 90, with the coach highlighting his timing, passing, and ability to win duels both in the air and on the ground.
