Mile Svilar (Roma) suffers stress fracture, out for at least a month
Gian Piero Gasperini confirmed Svilar’s stress fracture in his right foot keeps him out at least a month, including the Champions League vs Real Madrid.
Roma head into the second matchday of the Champions League league phase with a blow in goal: Mile Svilar, the AS Roma goalkeeper, will be sidelined for at least a month due to a stress fracture in his right foot. Coach Gian Piero Gasperini explained it in a press conference.
The manager said the injury affects the lower area of the right foot’s fifth toe and happened on October 2 at Trigoria as Svilar dived to reach a shot. “It isn’t a displaced fracture, but recovery will take at least a month,” Gasperini added. Doctors will decide whether a reinforcement such as a screw is needed, which could extend the timetable.
If the timeline is confirmed, Svilar would miss six Serie A matches and three Champions League games, including the tie against Real Madrid this Wednesday. He would also miss the trip to Manchester United on November 3, though he is expected to be available for the 21 November clash with reigning champions PSG in Paris.
Gollini is set to replace him: Pierluigi Gollini has played for Roma only once since joining in January 2025, in a Europa League game versus Panathinaikos.
