Monaco hit Toulouse with Diop header and chase top spot in Ligue 1

AS Monaco took the lead versus Toulouse thanks to a goal by Mamadou Diop, finishing a near-post header after a cross from Golovin, with Restes beaten for the 1-0. The side coached by Filipe Luis arrive unbeaten and top of Ligue 1, aiming to protect first place before their European campaign in the Conference League.

Early on, chances came and went: Hradecky kept his side in it when a Toulouse attempt went just wide, and Detourbet forced a scare by firing against the crossbar. Monaco controlled more of the ball but took time to threaten the goal until they found space behind the defense.

Tough opposition

Toulouse were cautious and had won only one of their last six matches against Monaco, a result from February 2024. The visitors also made a midfield change from the Le Havre game before the break: Vossah replaced Sigur. Their XI was: Restes; Messali, Koumbassa, McKenzie, Tapé; Casseres, Vossah; Azizi, Jorgensen, Russel-Rowe; Tengsted.
