Morocco vs Senegal: TAS hearing over CAN 2025 title this Thursday

This Thursday in Lausanne, they present arguments after the 1-0 (a.e.t.) on-field result and CAF’s later decision.

Morocco and Senegal will face the Tribunal Arbitral du Sport (TAS) this Thursday in Lausanne over the CAN 2025 final. On the pitch, Senegal’s Lions de la Teranga won 1-0 after extra time, but the CAF later awarded the title to Morocco’s Lions de l’Atlas.

The hearing will be closed-door and follows the final played on January 18 in Rabat. The sporting outcome was overturned in March by the CAF appeal jury, which stripped Senegal of the title under articles 82 and 84 of the CAN regulations.

As the CAF explained, several Senegal players had temporarily left the pitch during stoppage time, leading to Senegal being treated as having forfeited. The CAF therefore “homologated” the match on a 3-0 scoreline in favor of the FRMF.

According to L’Équipe, this Thursday’s session will hear both sides’ arguments, in one of the most controversial episodes of African football in 2026.
