Nacho Martín out with a meniscus injury: Larcamón says weeks

Las Palmas coach confirms Nacho Martín’s meniscus injury will keep him sidelined for weeks ahead of the Celta Fortuna clash.

Las Palmas coach Nicolás Larcamón confirmed before the clash with Celta Fortuna (Sunday, 16:15) that Nacho Martín has a meniscus injury and that his recovery “will take weeks,” though he said they’ll wait for further reports to clarify the exact extent.

The manager added that last week the player was already dealing with discomfort that kept him from being at full strength. “We tried every possible option for him to be part of the team,” he said, even considering an injection, but concluding it wasn’t feasible. “In the end it was a decision: he couldn’t be on the pitch, but he would join us for the derby to bring his voice and advice.” Larcamón also noted that if Nacho had been at 60%, “I would have found a way to use him.”

He also stated that Juan Otero is almost certainly ruled out, joining the absences of Iosifov, Konrad and Ferrari, while Gelabert is unavailable due to suspension. Sarco, meanwhile, is expected to be in contention after fluid appeared slightly in his knee during a compensatory drill, and Casas is working back toward full readiness.
