Nerea Nevado on leaving Athletic and joining AC Milan

Nerea Nevado, AC Milan left-back, spoke to Mundo Deportivo about why she felt her time at Athletic had ended and why she changed clubs last summer. After seven seasons and 142 appearances for the Bilbao side, she says she wanted “a change, too in life”, and that “the train doesn’t usually pass so many times”.

On adapting to Milan, Nevado says the gym work was tough at first and she was out for “a couple of weeks” with a quadriceps overload, but now feels “súper bien”. She also notes she had been a starter in Milan’s first three league matches and believes the Serie A is more physical than Spain’s, with less predictability: “you don’t know who will win”.

Regarding her new team, she underlines that Milan are chasing titles and a Champions League place. She adds that last year they missed out “by a little”, and cites the start of the league as evidence of the challenge: 3 points from 9, with a home win over Juventus and defeats away to Como and Roma.
