Nicolás Larcamón’s Sporting: 19 points and the Orlegi record

Sporting Gijón, with Nicolás Larcamón at the helm, has produced its strongest league start since the Group Orlegi took over in 2022: it now has 19 points after three straight wins and sits in the play-off positions. The momentum came on 20 October with a 2-1 win over Albacete at El Molinón, sealed by César Gelabert’s goal in stoppage time.

As reported by MARCA, the run keeps Sporting in the upper part of the table for a second consecutive matchday and lets Larcamón break the Orlegi record. Since 2022, the club had not gone beyond 17 points at the tenth matchday: three of the four Orlegi seasons ended on 15.

Sporting’s executive president, José Riestra, previously promised to step down if promotion was not achieved, while the club continues to chase a return to LaLiga.
