Niko Kovač rues Dortmund’s slip: “We had the opponent in a corner”

Borussia Dortmund looked on track when they went ahead with two goals shortly before the end against Werder Bremen, only to give the advantage back a few minutes later. After the match, head coach Niko Kovač voiced disappointment at dropping points after holding control.

Kovač’s message was clear: according to him, Dortmund had the game under pressure and had the opponent where they wanted them. “Hatten Gegner in der Ecke”, he said afterward, blaming the late collapse for the two points lost.
