Olympiakos fans: 1,000 allowed back in after authorities’ U-turn
The Vélodrome visitors’ section will take up to 1,000 Olympiakos supporters on Thursday at 21:00 in the Europa League.
Supporters of Olympiakos will finally be allowed into the Vélodrome visitors’ section for Thursday’s Europa League match at 21:00: up to 1,000 fans will be admitted. After a decree published on Tuesday morning temporarily blocked access, the authorities confirmed the change late in the day.
L’Équipe reports that the back-and-forth came down to several factors. First, heavy police deployment related to blocking schools, managing student demonstrations and a busy social schedule. Second, worrying intelligence about potential Red Star Belgrade supporters (around 150), following their ban from travelling to Lugano on Thursday (18:45).
The Tuesday order also listed restrictions on entering the stadium, parking and moving through parts of central Marseille and around the ground from Wednesday 14 to Friday 16 October 2026. Rivalries—especially involving AEK ultras—were another concern, and the match was classed at risk level five out of five by the national anti-hooligan division.
