Óscar Valentín and Rayo: no training session before Elche
With Rayo Vallecano-Elche 72 hours away (Saturday 14:00), only Óscar Valentín showed up; a talks between board and squad is hinted.
Rayo Vallecano did not train this Wednesday ahead of the imminent Rayo Vallecano-Elche match on Saturday at 14:00. At the club’s training ground, only the captain Óscar Valentín turned up, while the rest of the squad stayed away.
As Mundo Deportivo reports, the decision became known earlier in the day: Valentín arrived around 10:30 and shortly after Raúl Martín Presa was also seen at the facilities, fueling speculation about a potential meeting between the board and the players. The situation follows the team’s game against Getafe, when Iván Balliu suggested contacts between players and management were possible to reach arrangements in a turbulent season.
The club’s wider context remains tough too: Vallecas has been inoperable for several matches, there have been ongoing complaints about the facilities and pitch, and the stadium has partially closed after incidents versus Athletic.
