Óskarsson returns on a scoring spree but misses Dépor through ban
Órskarsson scored three times for Iceland on the break, but will serve his one-match suspension with the Real Sociedad vs Dépor.
Orri Óskarsson returns to Real Sociedad after netting three goals for Iceland, but he won’t be available for Sunday’s match against Deportivo de A Coruña: he is suspended following a second yellow he received late on versus Valencia.
The ban was confirmed on September 23, after the Disciplinary Committee issued a one-game sanction for Óskarsson following the 2-3 at Mestalla, a game settled with a goal in added time and marked by two yellow cards for protests.
With Iceland, he left good feelings behind: he scored in the 0-3 win over Luxembourg and added a brace in the 3-0 victory against Bulgaria (he was close to a hat-trick). For Real, he hadn’t found the net since August, so the timing is bittersweet—now he must serve the suspension before turning to Thursday’s Europa League trip to Brussels against Union Saint-Gilloise.
