Pablo Marín and his setback: “It’s long to be injured and relapse”
Pablo Marín returned to the pitch in the derby vs Athletic after a injury kept him out longer due to a relapse, and he talked about the physical toll.
Pablo Marín returned to the grass with Real Sociedad in the derby against Athletic Club after a injury that dragged on due to an untimely relapse. The academy player played his first minutes of the season and said the reintroduction had a cost: “You could tell there were players we hadn’t played with yet”.
The Rioja native also explained how he felt physically and why the timing matters: “On a personal level, I’ve noticed I’m more tired than usual… Better that the injury happened at the start; I’d rather it not have been in the middle of the season.” He summed up the frustration of going through it all again: “It’s long to be injured and relapse, but I was really looking forward to coming back.”
He added that the team’s work during the calendar break helps them face the upcoming matches with confidence, praising the process: “Sometimes stopping recharges you… We trained really well during the break.” He also discussed his tactical versatility for Pellegrino Matarazzo: “I’m willing to play where needed… I’ve always played in midfield… but I’ve also been enjoying playing higher up.”
Real Sociedad, however, lost the derby 0-1.
