Pascal Gross keeps Brighton one step ahead with relentless fitness
Back in January, the Bundesliga veteran was Premier League Player of the Month for September and averages 11.5+ km per game.
Pascal Groß, the Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder, has returned to form with a physical routine that’s turned into a team benchmark. The Premier League named him Player of the Month for September, and his obsession goes beyond training: Groß won a 8.4 km race on Juist in 31 minutes and 35 seconds.
The numbers match the effort. This season he is averaging more than 11.5 km per match and ranks third in total distance covered in the Premier League. On the pitch, Brighton are pushing for Champions League qualification: Groß has been directly involved in seven goals and assists, and is among the top five for big chances created (six), chances from open play (14) and line-breaking passes leading to a goal (three). Brighton’s attacking output—23 goals in seven league matches—has him as a standout.

Fabian Hürzeler summed up his influence as being “one step ahead” in the head rather than in raw pace, adding that nobody expected it to be “this good.” With Brighton heading to Liverpool, Groß has started every game across all competitions.
