Pau Cubarsí outlines how to make Barcelona’s high line work
The Barça defender explains on DAZN how to keep Flick’s pressing effective and admits the high line can be “a bit complicated”.
Pau Cubarsí, of FC Barcelona, explained on DAZN why the high defensive line pushed by Hansi Flick can work, calling it a “philosophy” the manager has communicated from the start. The defender stressed the team’s job upfield: “Up there we have to press like animals so they’re not comfortable,” adding that with “clear ideas” they can achieve “great things.”
Cubarsí acknowledged the challenge: “For a defender it’s special, a bit complicated in some situations,” but pointed to collective support—“trusting the teammates you have next to you” and keeping the ideas clear is what makes “things go well.”
Asked about the chances of Lamine Yamal winning the Ballon d’Or and him claiming the Kopa Trophy, he said it “wouldn’t be bad,” though his attention is on the match this Sunday, and that if something “good” comes after, he’ll be grateful.
