Pedro Neto double puts Everton-Chelsea 0-2 into Europe race

Pedro Neto scored twice as Chelsea beat Everton 0-2, putting the Blues firmly in the race for the European spots.

The first half was largely uneventful, with the first shot on goal arriving only after the 13th minute. Pickford saved an outside attempt from Palmer, while the crowd whistled Henderson whenever he touched the ball for his time at Liverpool.

With five minutes to the break, Caicedo rattled the crossbar from the right with a powerful shot. Almost immediately after the break, Neto gave Chelsea the lead: at 30 seconds he finished a cut-back from Hato to make it 0-1.

A major moment came in the 74th minute. Dibu Martínez collided heavily with Branthwaite, was left visibly shaken, and had to be taken off on a stretcher after nine minutes of treatment; Mike Penders came on.

Late on, Joao Pedro struck into Pickford (85’), but the result was sealed when Neto pounced on a rebound inside the box to complete the double at 90’. Chelsea saw out 11 added minutes and took all three points, according to Mundo Deportivo.
