Pedro Rodríguez converts a penalty as Barça Youth win 0-1 at Galatasaray

After a 1-2 opening loss, Barça take a breath and sit 17th ahead of next Tuesday’s trip to PSG.

FC Barcelona’s Juvenil A got what it needed in the UEFA Youth League: they beat Galatasaray 0-1 in Istanbul, with the win sealed by a penalty converted by Pedro Rodríguez (18’).

Head coach Pol Planas knew the three points were crucial after the first-round setback versus Feyenoord (1-2). Pedro Rodríguez led from midfield, with Shane Kluivert and Joni Hernández working the wide areas. Òscar Gistau had already tested the crossbar before the goal, and a minute later Eyüp Karasu fouled Joni Hernández in the box. Pedro took responsibility and finished low into the corner.

The goal gave Barça control, moving the ball and creating chances through Nil Vicens and following Kluivert’s deliveries, while Max Bonfill denied Ada Yüzgeç. Galatasaray’s response came in spurts and, despite a red for Kahraman for two bookings (74’ and 87’), Barça held on to the result as they now look ahead to the next game, with the schedule for the second matchday closing between today and tomorrow (per Mundo Deportivo).
