Pep Guardiola backs Man City amid Premier League financial ruling
The ex-City boss posted support and the club will appeal; it has until Oct 2 to file the recurso.
Pep Guardiola, former coach of Manchester City, posted a message backing the club’s players, staff, fans and ownership after an independent commission found City guilty over Premier League financial rule breaches.
As Sky Sports reports, the commission ruled that between 2009/10 and 2017/18 City arranged “sham” contracts with commercial partners as part of a “disguised funding scheme”, inflating revenues by £830m. City says it will appeal the decision and continues to deny the charges.
CEO Ferran Soriano called the process a “Premier League conspiracy theory” in a video message to players and staff. Guardiola’s post included: “We will get through this together. I love you all.” The club has until Friday, October 2 to appeal.
