Peru Nolaskoain returns to full pace with Eibar after 5+ months out
The Guipúzcoa centre-back is back in group training after an ankle sprain and is closing in on a return vs Albacete.
Peru Nolaskoain, from Eibar, has returned to training at the same pace as his teammates after more than five months on the sidelines with an ankle sprain. MARCA reports that the Zumaia defender completed the session following the squad’s day off, bringing his comeback closer.
The injury ended up being more serious than first feared: Nolaskoain pushed to be available for a potential playoff push last season, but Eibar finished outside the top six. With recovery expected to be ready for the start of pre-season, the ankle issues lingered and kept him out during the first two months of the league.
Eibar now wants him to build up enough sessions to make a matchday squad. A Saturday trip to Albacete seems too early for his return, but getting him back would boost options in the defence and midfield—areas where the team has been performing well. The coach is also working to get others back: Olaetxea has trained normally since last week and could be in the squad, while Sergio Álvarez still needs a bit more time to reach medical clearance.
