Peterborough deny illegal approach for Robbie Savage, BBC reports
Dale Vince claimed the club bypassed rules, but chairman Darragh MacAnthony insists the appointment was “100% correct and proper”.
Peterborough have denied accusations made by Forest Green Rovers owner Dale Vince that the club made an illegal approach for manager Robbie Savage. The row follows Vince’s claim, in an interview with BBC Radio Gloucestershire, that he initially refused permission for Peterborough to speak to Savage.
Vince said he eventually relented because Peterborough contacted his former manager directly, before appointing him on 2 October. “He’s a friend… and it was very hard to say no,” Vince said. He also argued that Peterborough first came to him asking to speak to their manager, then they spoke to Savage, and only after that Savage told them Peterborough wanted to talk.
Posh says procedure was correct
In response, Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony wrote on X that the appointment process was “100% correct and proper, following all the rules”. Savage won his first league game in charge on Saturday, beating Leicester City 3-1. This weekend, Peterborough host Burton Albion in his first home league match.
