Pierre Sage under pressure after Crystal Palace’s 5-0 defeat at Brighton
Crystal Palace head coach Pierre Sage faces mounting pressure after Sunday’s 5-0 loss; the team is 14th with 7 points from 7 games.
Pierre Sage and Crystal Palace find themselves under extra pressure after a 5-0 defeat at Brighton on Sunday. Sky Sports reports the club has no immediate plans to change their manager, but the result has intensified scrutiny.
Palace sit 14th with 7 points from seven matches, and Sage admitted he couldn’t guarantee the club had his full backing following such a heavy loss to their rivals. Chairman Steve Parish had previously said the club was on “high alert” during the transition from Oliver Glasner, a process that includes new players and a first Europa League campaign.
Asked about whether he would be given time to turn things around, Sage said: “I don't know”. He also issued an apology to fans, saying it wasn’t acceptable for Palace to show that level against this opponent, and added they didn’t understand “in which context the game was played.”
