PSG-Lyon pushed to Monday for security, clashing with Ballon d’Or night
PSG-Lyon in Ligue 1 moves from Oct 25 to Oct 26 at 20:30 due to a Paris police security ban.
PSG and Olympique de Lyon have had their Ligue 1 fixture rescheduled: the match originally set for Sunday October 25 will now be played on Monday, October 26 at 20:30, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Ligue de Football Professionnel made the change following an order from the Paris Police Prefecture citing security concerns. The decision is linked to new planned demonstrations and social mobilisations over that weekend in Paris and other French cities, after incidents and looting were reported a week earlier.
The new date means the PSG delegation will miss the Ballon d’Or ceremony held the same Monday in London. It remains to be seen whether any of the injured candidates will still travel: Ousmane Dembélé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Marquinhos. Unless something unexpected happens, names such as Fabián Ruiz, Vitinha, Joao Neves, Ferran Torres and Achraf Hakimi won’t be in the English capital, either, along with Luis Enrique, who is also in contention for Coach of the Year. A similar situation happened last season: on September 22, 2025, PSG played Olympique de Marseille the same day as the Ballon d’Or.
