PSG visit the Etihad: City vs PSG kicks off at 21:00 in UCL

The 2nd matchday of the Champions League league phase starts at 21:00 at the Etihad, with live coverage.

Manchester City host Paris Saint-Germain this Wednesday at the Etihad at 21:00 for the 2nd matchday of the UEFA Champions League league phase. The PSG start their first away trip in this season’s competition under Luis Enrique, with Ousmane Dembélé and Nuno Mendes available after being rested last weekend.

City arrive with a near-flawless run: eight wins in nine matches across all competitions, their only setback coming in mid-August’s Community Shield final against Arsenal. In the Premier League, the Sky Blues followed up with a 0-3 win at Liverpool, in a season narrative still shaped by the “billion-euro” financial fraud case.

Referee and key background

The match will be refereed by an German official, marking his first time overseeing a PSG game. He previously took charge of a Youth League match between PSG and Juventus on 6 September 2022 and also refereed a City game last season. The build-up also ties back to the PSG’s near-signing of Rayan Cherki in summer 2024, which ultimately collapsed.

PSG come into this European clash on a run of five wins, after beating Le Mans 3-1 on Saturday. Ahead of this first European highlight of the campaign, the squad trained normally on Tuesday night at the Etihad and no physical issues were reported.
