Rafita, Málaga full-back, shines for La Rojita’s European spotlight
Málaga wants to upgrade Rafita’s release clause before November’s international break; contract runs to June 2029.
Rafita, Málaga’s full-back, has broken into “La Rojita” after being called up to David Gordo’s Spain U21 squad due to Javi Hernández’s injury. The Torre del Mar native didn’t just take his chance—he cemented his place with performances that have raised his profile, especially in Spain U21’s match vs Romania, alongside Pablo García.
The club now wants to turn that momentum into protection. Rafita is tied to Málaga until June 2029, but his release clause doesn’t match the growing importance of his role. Radio MARCA Málaga previously reported that the club aims to improve his deal and raise the buyout clause.
Interest was already there last summer: Osasuna and Real Betis asked about his situation, but Rafita—like his teammates—did not want to entertain offers to leave La Rosaleda. The plan is to push the change through before the next November international break.
