Raphinha returns: Barcelona confirm he’ll play Getafe
The Brazilian forward passes medical tests and is set for Saturday 10 (18:30) at Spotify Camp Nou; Barça lead with 21/21.
Good news for Barcelona: Raphinha has passed medical checks after an edema in his right thigh and will be available for Getafe this Saturday 10 at Spotify Camp Nou (18:30). The Brazilian forward had pulled out of last Tuesday’s Australia-Brazil friendly (2-4), where he scored a penalty, while the club monitored his condition to rule out anything more.
Right thigh, on time
As Mundo Deportivo reports, Raphinha was assessed at Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper with a positive outcome following the issue that forced him to stop. He arrived back in Barcelona on Thursday afternoon after a trip of more than 20 hours (Melbourne via Dubai), underwent the tests in Sant Joan Despí, and left the facilities shortly before 12:30 on Friday.
Barcelona is not issuing an injury update because they don’t consider it a problem that requires medical communication. That’s why he won’t play Saturday with Brazil against India, and precautions will continue during next week’s training sessions when work resumes on Monday.
October also comes fast: Getafe (10), Galatasaray (13), Betis (17), Paris Saint-Germain (20) and Real Madrid (25) bookend a tough run for the league leaders, who head into the game with 21 points from 21.
