Rayo fans announce legal action over Butarque season-ticket issue

The ADRV supporters’ platform, which groups most Rayo Vallecano fan clubs, says it will file a joint lawsuit against the club. Their aim is to demand a refund of the proportional amount of season tickets covering the three matches Rayo played as home games at Butarque in Leganés.

As reported by MARCA, the legal process will be handled by lawyer Javier Flores and will be open to all season-ticket holders who wish to request compensation for the harm caused by the closure of Estadio de Vallecas. In its statement, the platform argues that fans were the biggest losers throughout the whole situation.

What happened to the stadium

ADRV recalls that Rayo launched the 24 July season-ticket campaign for 2026-2027 while a matter with the Community of Madrid regarding safety and maintenance of Vallecas was still pending. Four days later, on 28 July, the Community agreed to a precautionary suspension of the stadium concession and then began a procedure that could lead to its definitive termination, forcing the club to play home games elsewhere.

At Butarque, Rayo hosted Alavés, Real Racing Club de Santander and Espanyol. The platform stresses that these three fixtures were originally included in the season-ticket package.

The claim and legal grounds

The supporters say they did not receive a public apology or any clear explanations after the process unfolded. They also claim they had to deal with ticket office procedures with, in their words, “insignificant” time limits. They further argue there was no compensation for the proportional part of the season ticket covering matches they could not attend in their own stadium.

As MARCA reports, the ADRV platform believes the refund is owed under both the season-ticket campaign terms for 2026-2027 and Law 17/1997 on public entertainment and recreational activities of the Community of Madrid.
