Rayo hit with partial Vallecas ban and €6,000 fine, fans dispute the ruling

Discipline punishes Rayo with a partial stadium closure and a €6,000 fine; supporters ask for season-ticket compensation and call it a peaceful protest.

The Rayo Vallecano were sanctioned by the Disciplinary Committee with a partial closure of Estadio de Vallecas and a €6,000 fine for the incidents that happened during the Rayo-Athletic match.

The club’s Peñas responded with a statement posted on Plataforma ADRV titled “Ante el cierre parcial del estadio: nuestra solidaridad”. They argue that “the resolution does not reflect what really happened” and insist that “the protest showed the discontent of the whole fanbase”. They also claim there was participation “from the three stands”.

As described in the note, in the 13th minute the crowd began throwing paper airplanes and small rubber balls in two waves—first forcing the game to stop, then leading to its suspension.

The text adds that it is “curious” to take legal action when, in their view, it was a peaceful and democratic protest, pointing to alleged failures in stadium maintenance obligations. It ends with a vow that “Rayismo will keep protesting” and that the club will seek a proportional refund for season tickets for the matches played at Butarque.
