Rayo Vallecano appeal rejected: €6,000 fine upheld
The Appeals Committee dismisses the Rayo’s appeal over October 10 incidents, keeping a partial stadium closure for Rayo-Elche.
This Friday, the Appeals Committee rejected Rayo Vallecano’s appeal against the penalty handed down on the 14th for what happened in the match against Athletic Club on Saturday, October 10. The decision stands: a €6,000 fine, a partial closure of one stand area, and a warning of a full stadium closure.
The original ruling was made after referee Sánchez Martínez had to stop the game for ten minutes due to objects being thrown. The disciplinary motion underlines that the incidents occurred up to three times and continued even after being warned.
Partial closure for Elche visit
The partial closure must be complied with tomorrow for the visit of Elche, a game labelled high-risk. The match will be refereed by Miguel Sesma, with VAR managed by Jorge Figueroa Vázquez; it will be the first time he officiates both teams this season.
