Rayo Vallecano: Beñat warns anger won’t fade without changes
Ahead of the trip to Elche, Beñat and the Rayo face rising tension in Vallecas and fresh demands from fans’ groups.
Rayo Vallecano coach Beñat San José said that if no changes come, the unrest “won’t disappear”, ahead of the match against Elche.
Before the game, the club confirmed there was an internal meeting to address a situation they described as unpleasant and to normalize things. Beñat also asked for optimism: “This Saturday is a very important match” and the goal is for fans and the team to face it as well as possible at Vallecas.
Demands before Elche
Minutes before his press appearance, a statement from the Rayo supporters’ groups demanded a proportional refund for the three matches played at Butarque, a freeze on season-ticket prices for next season and a “sincere apology” from the club’s board. The condition is that it happens before the match against Elche, aiming to reduce tension and avoid another suspension.
The background also includes the reaction and penalties after the incidents in the Athletic match, plus the separate visit of captain Óscar Valentín and president Raúl Martín Presa to the training facilities on the same day.
