Real Betis matches its best ever start with 19 points
After beating Osasuna 5-2, Betis hit 19 points from their first eight league games, equalling the club’s historical record.
The Real Betis matched its best-ever league start by reaching 19 points in the first eight matchdays after Sunday’s win over Osasuna (5-2). Under Manuel Pellegrini, the record run reads six wins, one draw and one defeat, the same balance the club had in the start of 1934/35—the only season they won the league.
A run built on points
Mundo Deportivo highlights that Betis also starred in 1963/64, when they posted five wins and three draws in eight games and finished that stretch without losing. Back then, with the points system of the era, the total came to 13 points, the same figure as in the 1934/35 start.
The victory also keeps their home dominance rolling. Since the last league defeat in the Benito Villamarín—December 6, 2025, against FC Barcelona (3-5)—Betis have banked ten wins and five draws, including seven consecutive home victories.
Barcelona up next
The article’s sequence of home results includes, among others, Getafe (4-0), Villarreal (2-0), Real Madrid (1-1 and 1-0) and Celta (1-1). Their next opponent is FC Barcelona at La Cartuja.
