Real Madrid start UCL with draw vs PSG (1-1)

A goal early, then trouble

Real Madrid opened the Women’s Champions League League Phase with a bitter 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain at Alfredo Di Stéfano. The home side, coached by Pau Quesada, struck early: Felicia Schröder scored the opener in the 2nd minute, finishing a smart move into the box.

The start was decisive. Almost before the crowd settled, Schröder found the net on her European debut, and the Madrid side pushed to control the game. The PSG responded quickly, and Frohms was called into action more than once to keep the scoreline from leveling.

A late penalty

After the break, Real Madrid kept their composure and still had chances to extend their lead, including a moment in which Schröder’s effort hit the post. But the turning point came late: inside the box, Lakrar was judged to have held an opponent’s arm, and the referee pointed to the spot. From 11 meters, Karchaoui made it 1-1 in the 74th minute despite the keeper’s attempt.

With the game tied, both teams went for it. PSG came close again through former Madrid player Naomie Feller, while Real Madrid chased a winner with transitions and longer balls. In the end, the match settled on 1-1, leaving Madrid with mixed feelings after doing more of the work but being punished from the spot.

As Mundo Deportivo reports, the referee was Ivana Projkovska, the game was played in front of 1,500 spectators, and yellow cards were shown to Elisa and Athenea for Madrid and Karchaoui and Samoura for PSG.
