Real Madrid: UEFA confirms it received the Negreira case report

UEFA says it received “a considerable amount of documents” from Madrid and inspectors will review them as part of their ongoing analysis.

UEFA has confirmed that it received from Real Madrid “a considerable amount of documents” about the ‘Negreira case’, linked to an ongoing investigation involving FC Barcelona. The update comes after Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez warned on May 12 that he would send a detailed report.

As detailed in UEFA’s statement, the Ethics and Disciplinary inspectors also received the recent paperwork to assess it as part of their ongoing review. Madrid submitted the report on June 17, and it is reported to run to 50,000 pages.

What disciplinary action is possible?

Real Madrid has already joined the legal process to push for the matter to be examined thoroughly, following payments totaling €8.4 million between 2001 and 2018 to José María Enríquez Negreira. UEFA has had a preliminary information procedure open since 2023, and for this case it would only consider disciplinary consequences for Barcelona if Spanish courts establish that sports corruption took place.
