Real Sociedad can jump up to sixth place this Sunday, almost two and a half years after their last time there, if they beat Deportivo La Coruña at Anoeta and the Deportivo Alavés don’t win against Atlético Madrid.
The scenario comes after an inconsistent league start, with the side drifting away from the top positions and reaching spells around eighth and seventh. In the run-in, they faded and finished in 11th.
As MARCA notes, the equation is straightforward: three points vs the visitors, plus a slip from Alavés, would put them in their best league spot since the end of the 2023-24 season.
