Real Sociedad vs Athletic: Matarazzo heads to Anoeta with up to 11 absences

Real Sociedad will host Athletic Club tomorrow at Anoeta (19:00) with up to 11 absences due to international duty and two injuries. Coach Pellegrino Matarazzo cannot rely on Jon Mikel Aramburu, Yangel Herrera, Óri Óskarsson, Mikel Oyarzabal, Jon Martín, Job Ochieng, Take Kubo, Mamadou Sarr and Luka Sucic.

In addition, Álvaro Odriozola and Igor Zubeldia are out through injury. That forces Matarazzo to reshape the defense: with Fort and Aihen at full-back, the only direct options at the center are Jon Pacheco, who had not been used by him until now, and Luken Beitia, from the Sanse.

Calling on the reserves

With that setup, Unai Marrero is expected in goal, while Gorrotxategi and Turrientes could form the double pivot. Up front, Marín, Soler, Zakharyan, Barrenetxea and Guedes are set to fight for the attacking roles, though the coach may also give chances to other academy players.

To round out the squad, Matarazzo adds eight more from the Sanse after bringing them in from Wednesday: Aitor Fraga, Iñaki Rupérez, Kazunari Kita, Unax Ayo, Alex Lebarbier, Ibai Aguirre, Dani Díaz and Gorka Carrera, according to MARCA.
