Real Sociedad Women hit the alarm: scoring drought

Real Sociedad Femenina’s early season problem is clear: they are struggling to score. According to Mundo Deportivo, the team led by Gorka Álvarez has managed zero wins, three draws and four losses after seven official matches across the Champions qualification phase, Liga F and the Europa Cup.

Seven games, low output

The numbers underline the issue. The Basque side failed to find the net in four of those seven fixtures, including games at Chelsea in Zubieta, DUX Logroño, Badalona and Hearts. Overall, their attacking return stands at five goals: strikes by Ainhoa Marín, Cecilia Marcos, Carlota Chacón and Ainoa Campo, plus an own goal against Granada.

The contrast with last season makes the situation even more worrying. At the same stage previously, Real had 12 goals and scored in every one of their first seven league outings. That effectiveness translated into a far stronger record: four wins, two draws and just one defeat.

A reshaped forward line

Mundo Deportivo points to a deep reshaping of the front line as the main cause. The club has lost a significant amount of attacking production: Edna Imade’s departure in the winter window created a huge gap after 11 goals in 12 matches. The problem has been compounded by summer exits of Lucía Pardo and Claire Lavogez, who had added six goals each.

On top of that, Aiara has been sidelined with injury, having scored six the previous campaign, while captain Nerea Eizagirre appears stuck in a goal drought. Mundo Deportivo references her missed penalty in Edinburgh as another sign the captain has not yet found her rhythm.

With so little scoring output, Real Sociedad urgently needs fresh attacking solutions to keep their season goals on track, as Mundo Deportivo stresses: without scoring, winning is extremely hard.
